Sarah Foord
Sarah found her passion for yoga when she was pregnant with her daughter 23 years ago, she loved the yoga and baby massage classes. Sarah very quickly started to recognise the benefits that both a physical and meditative practice had on her ‘whole’ wellness.
Her journey started with a regular dynamic ashtanga practice, followed by regular attendance at a Vajrasati class. Sarah was very quickly drawn to the principles of Vajrasati yoga which are taken from the true essence of what yoga is and fully integrated into modern, postural yoga practices. Her interest in the philosophy and roots of yoga developed from here and are a fundamental part of her practice.
Sarah’s classes draw from her extensive knowledge and experience. Sarah guides students through a series of postures slowly and deeply, paying attention to the breath. She takes time to make students feel comfortable and relaxed, providing a welcoming space where everyone can take part, creating a felt sense of space and calmness that is needed with the ‘business of modern life.’
Sarah became an accredited Vajrasati teacher in May 2020, receiving a 500+hrs qualification.
Since qualifying she has completed a ‘Yoga and Somatic Course for Healing and Recovery,’ ‘Dāśa Mahāvidyās (10 wisdom goddesses)’ course, yoganidrā training and a sound healing 30hr CPD. She is always looking for ways to deepen her knowledge and practice and extend her offerings.
Sarah has been running online classes, and small group from her studio in Brighton since qualifying and regularly runs workshops which offer a combination of movement, meditation, breathwork, and yoganidrā centred around a theme and/or goddess.
She enjoys combining nature with yoga and has jointly delivered day retreats combining nature immersion, sea swims, and various yoga practices. She is an advocate of making yoga accessible to all and has run classes with local and international voluntary organisations for adults with complex mental health needs and women refugees.
Jenny’s review, ‘Sarah’s classes help me to focus on and understand my body, and to calm my mind. She is an intelligent and inclusive teacher and, even over Zoom, has a thoughtful rapport with her students.’
Class – Yoga, Meditation and Sound
Sarah’s class is that welcome opportunity for a Tuesday evening reset. Sarah approaches her classes with lightness and fun, taking the time to make sure everyone feels supported. This class is a journey through sound, movement, and meditation to find a sense of space and stillness; taking time to feel into the body and notice the breath. Yoga props are an essential part of this class they aid, support, and deepen the practice. A student described the class “like being wrapped in a hug!”
