Joe Wilcox

I’m Joe Wilcox, a calisthenics coach, personal trainer, and massage therapist based in Brighton. I specialise in bodyweight strength, handstands, and functional movement — helping people build strength, mobility, and confidence using minimal equipment.

I’ve been training calisthenics for over eight years. It’s not just my profession — it’s what I practise daily and genuinely love. I’m often told that my passion for movement comes through in my teaching. My approach blends playful exploration with disciplined strength work, learning new ways to control your body through gravity while challenging yourself to progress.

All of my teaching is rooted in a science- and evidence-based approach. I stay current with the latest research to make sure what we do is effective, progressive, engaging, and fun — building strength that lasts. I love exploring what the body is capable of, especially upside down, and helping others discover that potential for themselves.

Whether you're completely new to handstands or strength training, I aim to create sessions that are challenging, supportive, genuinely enjoyable, and adaptable to all levels.

Alongside teaching classes, I run Brighton Body Balance and Work Wellness Club, delivering one-to-one personal training, group classes, and massage across a variety of settings — from dedicated wellbeing spaces to directly on-site in workplaces.

Class description:

We’ll explore handstand foundations and progressions alongside calisthenics-based strengthening exercises for the body, building strength, mobility, and control using just the wall and mat. The session focuses on effective, progressive training methods designed to help you move with greater confidence and resilience.

Expect playful challenges, structured progressions, and opportunities to learn new ways to control your body through gravity. Whether you're new to handstands and strength training or looking to deepen your practice, you’ll be supported to challenge yourself in an engaging, energising, and empowering environment.
